Demain mardi 26 février, soirée old-time weird Americana avec les légendaires CHERRY BLOSSOMS (Nashville, Tennessee, USA), avec en 1ère partie des performances solo/duo de membres du collectif.
--
" Middle-Tennessee's finest anarchic post neo-skiffle collective specializing in kazoo-exotica.' The Cherry Blossoms are the musical heirs of Dock Boggs' visceral holler; they share the true gut-sung honesty of Bosavi guitar band music; they are a Dixie-fried Arkestra with out-of-tune acoustic guitars replacing every saxophone and a kazoo in place of Sun Ra's mellotron. This LP finally brings to proper format their most celebrated and celebratory songs, from interstellar boogie ("Rockin' Rocket Ship") to agitational architectural conservation anthem ("Golden Windows"), The Cherry Blossoms offer the OTHER Nashville Sound, the one that a multi-million dollar industry and a million pairs of snakeskin boots will never notice and can never corrupt. With only handmade releases and limited touring, the band has made fans and friends of the likes of Ben Chasny ( Six Organs of Admittance ), Will Oldham, Josephine Foster, and David Tibet (Current 93). That's an extremely short list – few who have heard the songs and voices of Peggy Snow, John Allingham, and the legion other Cherry Blossoms past and present have been immune to the contagious sound of the most honest band in America." Press-release
"After living with this amazing LP for the last couple of weeks we had to go ahead and grant em our first ever retrospective Tip Of The Tongue. The Cherry Blossoms hail from Nashville and every band that ever blew through that town came back with their jaws hanging round their ankles, telling tales of an amazing, anarchic jugband group that had alla the cracked osmotic power of The Godz and The Fugs at their slum goddess peak yet who were playing traditional American song forms that felt as fully plugged-in to the source as The Velvet Underground, Cordell Jackson or The Legendary Stardust Cowboy. This, their debut LP, more than delivers on alla the rumours, with a clutch of already-classic American songbook stompers that would combine banjos, guitars, drums, kalimba, kazoo, spoons and chants in odes to mythic continental topography and classic sub-gulcheral comic book imagery in a way that somehow weds Aliens-era Roky Erickson with Moe Tucker, Jandek with Sparkle Moore. Vocalist Peggy Snow (who has a whole other sideline in painting abandoned buildings, one of which adorns the cover of this LP) has all the spontaneous range of Diamanda Galas or Linda Sharrock but wields it in a hiccupping post-Charlie Feathers style, moving from sweet straightahead gleeful leads into high wordless extrapolation while male vocalist John Allingham compliments her with a delivery that is pure Mississippi, albeit in a revival style that is more Church Of Saturn that Southern Pentecostal. The whole record feels like an avant-roots revival, channelling supernatural powers that span the early Sun Records catalogue up through the unbroken continuum that links Buddy Holly, Bobby Fuller, Roky Erickson, NRBQ, Henry Flynt, Smegma, Half Japanese and The MV& EE Medicine Show. Peerless American goodtime straight out of the mystery zone and one of the hands-down records of the year thus far. Highest possible recommendation." - Volcanic Tongue
Debut LP co-released by: Apostasy, Black Velvet Fuckere, Breaking World Records, Consaguineous Records, & Hank the Herald Angel Recordings, Yeay! Tapes.

==== PSYCHEDELIC HORSESHIT [ http://www.myspace.com/psychedelichorseshit ] ====
" PH sounds like a grumpy old man's description of some mid-sixties hoopla, rather than a name of a band. Also hailing from Columbus Ohio, they pick up with the same melancholy exertion as their hometown cronies, Times New Viking, and with a split single on the horizon with them it seems as if they're like-minded, soul-quenching resonance will be soon set in stone, or at least wax. Digging up the muffled twang of a new folk contortion, Psychedelic Horseshit makes the overly used DIY theme seem like an obvious and moot exercise, because the further a sound eludes the unnecessary veneer and cushy production value, you realize it's covering an empty gesture with a gob of lipstick." Victime of Time
" Let's spin the history dial back and wonder what if Hitler had inherited six million dollars instead of being responsible for the deaths of six million Jews? Think about it-- no Anne Frank, Joseph Mengele, or Auschwitz; marzipan sales would be way up, cocaine legal, and vegetarians would have had an early advocate and mentor; the German Sheperd would be the national bird; watercoloring might even be a serious medium-- the mind boggles. And as an ardent fan of classical music (not to mention the six mil burnin' a hole in his pocket, Mein Gott!) you can bet Adolph would have been on board with Psychedelic Horseshit. The sounds on Magic Flowers Droned captures the rickety skeletal pop of Step Forward-era Fall, the lo-fi fuzz of Swell Maps, and static noblesse of Slay Tracks-era Pavement. Is that classical enough for ya? For sure, this full-length debut is no Parsifal, but to these guys, sometimes a spear is just a spear and The Holy Grail is a movie made by Monty Python. As for Wagner, four outta five housepainters will tell you theirs is a name you can trust. Now where'd I put that joint? Considered by the Columbus cognoscenti as the "little brother band" (Stooges-style) to Times New Viking (MC5-style), Psychedelic Horseshit first came about as three buds determined to crash a hippie fest and jam retardo. When asked for their name, singer/guitarist Matt Whitehurst replied, "Just call us Psychedelic Horseshit." The band killed, the name stuck, and thus the die was ignominiously cast. Since then, they played with the Urinals, Country Teasers, Dan Melchior, Blues Control, toured with Pink Reason and Times New Viking, ruled a couple showcases at the 2007 SXSW, basically doing what they can to lay the foundation for the release of this debut LP (a previous 7-inch on the Columbus Discount label made many 2006 Best Of lists, too). Distempered, jaded, harmonious, and ramshackle, Psychedelic Horseshit keeps the glass half full; the question is, do you have the courage to drink their wry and wizened brew? Sure you do, it's the tonic of champions!" Tom Lax - Siltbreeze Records
==== PINK REASON [ http://www.myspace.com/secondculture ] ====
"***Pink Reason is always Kevin DeBroux and practically never anyone else. The self-released Pink Reason debut seven-inch from 2006 was an itch of such beguiling psychic ache that all the inhabitants of Siltbreeze Island scratched it until they bled. On this first full length, the resident of Green Bay, Wisconsin, continues to ooze muzzy melancholia by the bucket, ably and formidably clearing house in Sanguine Manor, whose previous tenants include Royal Trux, The Jacobites, Phantom Payne, Black Vial, and other marginal inhabitants whose sticky fingers glimmer in stoned adulation. Dominated by creeping synths, stark strums and rickety percussive splats that complement De Broux's heartscraping vocal catharsis, Cleaning The Mirror journeys far beyond any known perspective, practically insinuating an alternate otherworld where Tim Buckley's Lorca and Jandek's Ready For The House have been hybridized into a ripe-for-plucking masterpiece. Or, shunning hyperbole in favor of acronym, Pink Reason's modern day DIY is very FYI that you should check out PDQ. Look for Pink Reason live via land, sea and air throughout 2007." Midheaven
==== CHEVEU [ http://www.myspace.com/cheveu // http://cheveunet.free.fr ] ====
"France's Cheveu have an excellent grasp on a very French post-punk dynamism, devolved in a lopsided way from progenitors such as Metal urbain, Warum joe and Berurier noir. But whatever their model, these guys produce a superior guitar raunch with great memble mystery moves (...). The primitivism here is lush enough to make you fall over." Byron Coley - The Wire
"Future primitivism at its ripest and freshest state, and another reminder that the French are still kicking our asses." Todd Killings - Victim of Time
"After this show I can die happy (...). Cheveu are the Joseph Beuys of music". Ann Shenton - Add N to X

A noter que ce soir la les Cheveu auront leur 1er excellent LP en vinyle.....Anki.
